Since 2007 the BetonBrouwers form the Concrete Canoe Team of Study Association ConcepT of the school of Civil Engineering at the University of Twente. Only the real diehard Civil Engineering students with a heart of concrete, loads of motivation and a lot of persistence can become a BetonBrouwer! Together the BetonBrouwers form a group of students who are not afraid to make our hands dirty and within our committee creativity and innovation with concrete are combined with a lot of pleasure/fun. On this website you are able to find background information about our committee, the applied ConcepTs and pictures & movies of the past years.

From the 5th till the 23rd of september the University of Twente celebrates its fiftieth birthday with a special event, the Experiment in het Bos. Free translated this means 'Experiment in the Forest', as the University started fifty years ago as an experiment for a third technical high school in the Netherlands. With succes, the unique concept of the campus with its green environment (Forest) was a good base for the University as it is now.

On the 25th of June 2011, the BetonBrouwers won both the women as men races at the 13th German Concrete Canoe Challenge in Magdeburg (D). Frank Aarns and Sevrien Ferrée prolonged their men’s title which they won at the previous edition in Essen (2009). Cindy Clevers and Leonie Straatsma won with an impressive final run the women’s first price. Besides these two first prices, Peter Schoonderbeek and Casper Rood, the second men’s team of the BetonBrouwers, won a very nice third price. So all three participating teams from Twente eventually ended up on the podium. The red, white and blue colored canoes from Enschede were also judged with a fourth price in the construction competition.
